Вакцинације за мачке: шта и када?

In previous articles, we have discussed, and talked about. But what kind of vaccinations are given to cats and how often? Vaccination calendar in our article.

For the first time, kittens are vaccinated at the age of 2 to 3 months. After 2-3 weeks, a second vaccination is mandatory. The fact is that babies still have colostral immunity – protection absorbed with mother’s milk. It does not allow the body to develop an independent response to the introduction of the vaccine.

In order for the body to learn how to work with the virus on its own, a re-vaccination is carried out.

Adult cats are vaccinated once a year throughout their lives. What explains this periodicity?

The vaccine causes the body to produce antibodies that protect it from infection with the virus. They continue to circulate in the blood for a long time, but after about a year their number decreases. To prolong protection, a new vaccination is needed, which will restart the production of antibodies.

Cats are vaccinated against the most dangerous and, unfortunately, quite common diseases: calicivirus, panleukopenia, bordetellosis, type 1 herpesvirus, and rabies. These diseases are dangerous throughout the life of a cat. Some of them are not treated and are dangerous not only for animals, but also for humans. Rabies is the most dangerous disease – in all cases, without exception, leads to death.

The exact vaccination schedule for a particular pet is set by a veterinarian. Depending on the cat’s health, environmental factors, and vaccine types, vaccination dates may vary. To understand the overall picture, you can focus on the approximate vaccination protocol, but the final dates must be agreed with the veterinarian.
