The German Spitz is an ancient breed of dog, it is considered one of the oldest in Europe. Images of similar animals have been found on clay tablets and pottery that are approximately 2,500 years old.

The German Spitz was originally a working breed. It was convenient to keep small dogs as guards: they are sonorous, sensitive and eat a little, unlike larger relatives. But everything changed in the 18th century, when aristocrats paid attention to the breed. So Spitz quickly spread throughout Europe, came to Russia and even to America.
