The Airedale Terrier is called the “King of Terriers”.

1. The name of the Airedale Terrier breed is translated as Eyre Valley Terrier.
2. The Airedale Terrier is not just a terrier. This is a “multinational fusion” of terriers, shepherd dogs, Great Danes, hounds and cops.
3. Information about the first Airedale Terriers kept in the strictest confidence. And even when these dogs became known, they were reluctantly sold to “outsiders”. And when the first Airedale was sold to a foreigner at one of the exhibitions, the indignation of the public was so great that both the seller and the buyer had to escape through the back door.  
4. Despite the fact that the Airedales were bred as independent otter hunters, before the First World War they were for military and police service. Their service qualities at that time were valued even higher than the abilities of German Shepherds and Dobermans.
5. Airedale Terrier – universal breed. He is able to become a guard, sportsman, hunter or just a companion.
6. The famous Austrian ethologist, Nobel Prize winner Konrad Lorenz named Airedales (along with German Shepherds) most faithful dog breed.
7. Unlike the German Shepherd, the Airedale Terrier will never see the leader in the owner. It is important to convincingly prove that you are able to offer profitable, worthy partnerships. And then you will get a wonderful friend, smart, devoted, active and at the same time obedient.
8. If you rely on violent methods in training the Airedale, you will not achieve results. Where another dog would have given up long ago, exhausted by the struggle, Airedale will think of a thousand and one ways to resist.
9. Airedales were loved by American presidents. Woodrow Wilson considered Airedale Davy to be his best friend. Bronze monuments have been erected to Warren Harding’s dogs Lady Boy and Lady Buck. About 19000 paperboys chipped in for these statues – for a cent. And Theodore Roosevelt wrote that “the Airedale Terrier is the best breed, embodying the virtues of all other dogs without their shortcomings.”
